To add to the confusion, we use a platinum catalyst heater every winter we camp. I did a CO check the first year we used one, and found that they really do produce VERY little CO. This is the Coleman platinum Cat heater. The Little Buddy type heaters ARE NOT THIS TYPE HEATER. Do not confuse them. The heaters look similar, but they are not.
Do your own tests before you trust anything on the internet. I used an M40M portable multi gas tester on a couple different occasions before I trusted my Kidde CO monitor with the readout. I do trust them now, but I am not saying you should. Talk to your local fire department, they may do some testing for/with you.
Most small volunteer departments usually won't say no, and you will feel a whole lot safer.
