We have used a propane heater for 16 years of full-timing as do thousands of other RVers. They are meant to be used indoors if used properly. We have a CO detector, we leave a window cracked, we don't use it at night - we love sleeping in cold temps. With the propane heater it only takes a few minutes in the morning to warm up the RV. They give a constant, noiseless, warm heat.
For folks stating about 'all' the deaths from them, I sure wish they'd post links to that effect. We sure don't hear of them out here in the RV world.
OP: Do not use the oven or burners for heat. That is dangerous. Yes, you can use your furnace without electric but your batteries will not last long. If you don't plan to be in those freezing temps for a long time it would just be best to either opt for electric hookups so you can run your furnace continuously or get a down comforter.
