Yes the larger radiator is the prime component in cooling your drive train.
I have the two row max towing radiator in my F150 that only came on the 7700HD version not in SuperCrew back then. But due to a misprint in the oem brochure Ford was required to retrofit as part of a settlement. When I am full throttle climbing in 115 heat the temp gauge just barely moves. If I had the original radiator I am sure I would have had to throttle back plenty of times. The original radiator had just one row.
Larger radiator takes the pressure off the other coolers to supplement.
