Tail Light Converter

Hello. I have a 2003 Monaco Diplomat and just bought a tow dolly. The MH has the standard round connector and the tow dolly has the mating connector. When I connected the dolly to the MH and tested the lights, the lights on the dolly only came on when the MH's headlights were on; the brake lights and turn signals on the MH did not cause the lights on the dolly to come on. The dolly manufacturer said that I need a tail light converter, which I had never heard of before. I thought that because the MH is already rigged for towing (the previous owner towed a trailer for 10 years) that nothing would be needed, other than to connect the trailer/dolly to the MH. Can someone please explain what's going on here? Thanks.

  • Does your MH have amber turn signal? if so, the connector on the MH wired for amber turn signals.
Which round connector is on the rig? Is it a round seven blade connector.
Amber turn signals would mean that the seven pin is wired for that. You would need to get a turn signal converter 3 to 2 and then re-wire the connector.
