Nothing new. Our schools and colleges have been teaching people for a generation to blame someone else for every stupid thing they do. Spill coffee, it's McDonalds fault. Trip while walking and texting, who put that curb there, it's always someone else's fault. And the lawyers tell them to look for the deepest pocket.
Please give it a rest with the fake, "McDonald's coffee suit" garbage. The case involved an elderly woman who spent over a week in a hospital having SKIN GRAFTS done to her crotch and thighs, due to insanely hot coffee served by McDonalds. She then spent the next two years dealing with the follow-up care to recover from her severe injuries. McDonalds said no to any reasonable requests for compensation for her medical care, said no to a very reasonable arbitrator's ruling, and refused to agree to serve coffee at a safe temperature. The multi-million dollar award was a message from the jury, and later reduced to far less than a million, or three times what they would of paid, if they weren't being jerks in the first place. There is a time and place for litigation, and in some cases it's the only thing a corporate entity will pay attention to. Corporations have repeatedly been show to place a dollar value on your life and well being, when deciding if harming you is profitable. Some of them have little concern for either (like the wholesale distributors who created the Opioid crisis, Takana air bag, Wells-Fargo, etc...) and only come around when they are end up with a few massive litigation losses.
You are correct on the McDonalds facts. They intentionally made coffee to hot to drink.
