Texas - trailer inspection

Finally had my 5er inspected, what a joke. You will all be pleased to know that every (exterior) light is working properly. You will have to take my word that the brakes work because the state of Texas has no idea since they were NOT inspected.

  • In PA they atleast pull a wheel to check the brakes. Plus, they put a sticker on the window. We get our monies worth :B
  • Let me guess!

Its a Money maker for the state. How much does it cost per year?
  • Passenger car inspections in Texas aren't much more stringent. It usually takes longer to do the paperwork then it does to inspect any of my veehickles.

Next time they inspect the TT I'll go along for the ride to see what they look at (and don't)
  • After 8 years I guess I will have to get mine inspected for the first time this month since my registration is due. No more inspection stickers. Just proof of inspection to renew registration, so valid registration is now also proof of current inspection.
  • When you go to renew the license tags, the system does a lookup to see if your inspection is current. If it is you can get your tags, otherwise its either a no or a provisional where you have a number of days to do a followup inspection. If you don't do the followup inspection they arrest you and deport you back to your country of origin. OK just kidding on the last part.
  • Did they put a sticker on your camper? I bought my from Fun Town, but I don't see the inspection sticker. I just assumed that they don't put stickers on it anymore like for cars.
