Texas weather in June

Trip is planned leaving here on June 4 arriving in Texas around June 14 - I am so sorry you guys are going through this - please send some of the water to California if you can??? We are drying up here. We are in the area where the big "Rim Fire" was two years ago so are worried about this fire season.

The entire chunk of Texas I'm at (Texas Hill Country) is now a disaster area. I have to thank God that I live on a hill, because it deluged constantly over the weekend... but all of that went into storm drains. Other people are not so lucky, because a lot of houses are now floatsam and jetsam in the Colorado River. My RV managed to survive (AFIAK) intact, although a twister did take out chicken coops nearby at the property my rig is stored on.

To boot, storms are predicted all this week for this area.

My recommendation: If you want to visit this part of Texas, visit sometime in June. It is a mess here with flooding actually worse than the 1981 Memorial Day flood which destroyed a chunk of downtown Austin.

Been watching the news. We are staying mostly in KOA's but will make sure we are aware of rivers. Thank you all again for all the suggestions.

Watch out where you camp. That nice spot down by the river might not be so nice in a very short time.

Hay, I live in Haltom City and I certainly remember a lot of 100+ days in June. Maybe this year will be different.

The Texas heat in June is not bad at all, especially along the coast. August is a different story.
Humidity in July can be uncomfortable to those not used to it. Pray for a high pressure cell planting itself over you. That lowers the humidity some.

Check out Palo Duro Canyon or Garner State Park if you have time.

As others said, prep for humidity in East TX. I don't know West TX well. When I lived in Japan, everyone complained about the humidity and I thought it was fine. Most of those complaining came from San Diego. After 5 years in CA, I would suffocate for a couple days until I acclimatized when I traveled home to the Gulf Coast - and I lived in the Central Valley with triple digit temps, probably closer to Las Vegas weather than San Diego.

Some type dehumidifier is helpful depending on how good your A/C's are at removing humidity. If you are closer to Gulf Coast, you will have potential for afternoon thunder storms.

Karenys, The Alamo can be disappointing to some. It's not at all what you expect from the movies. Very little of the area is left. The actual chapel itself is there and a part of one of the long barracks. I still find it fascinating just from the history. I can picture it in my mind while I'm there but my wife, who was born in Washington State by the way, was not impressed.

Before you go do a bit of reading and study the layout. Will give you a better understanding while there, of just what went on.
