Time for a new Outdoor Camp Fan!

Let's get some updated opinions on what kind of outdoor fan you have or have seen that works really well. We've been using the Wind Machines for several years, but it's time for new fans. The old W-Ms are dingy and about worn out. We're also trying to make better use of our basement space.
What do you guys think about the squirrel cage type fans? I'd like to have one or two fans that are more compact in size yet move lots of air.

Your thoughts, please?

  • Endless Breeze is a great fan, also the line of O2Cool fans aren't bad and are less expensive.

In my RVs I always have 12vdc but only sometimes have 120vac so I like things that work on 12vdc. I have added 12vdc receptacles inside and outside of my RVs.
  • et2, there are several reasons we use an outdoor fan. Living in the south, one reason we use a fan is the provide a "challenge" for mosquitos to get close to you. Another is the humidity. It helps quite a bit in that area. And, I just like a nice breeze blowing around me when I'm outdoors. Another reason I wouldn't have a screen room added to my awning.

We haven't boondocked in a long time, so I'm not as concerned about voltage comsumption. I just ordered this one, which seems like it will move quite a lot of air when needed while offering a lower setting for those evenings when we don't need quite as much cooling. It even has a couple of outlets built in to it.

    Lasko Pro Performance

If that one doesn't fit my expectations, I'll just send it back and keep looking.
  • YOu might look at "The Vornado" fan. A little pricey but it moves a lot of air and takes up little space.
  • I never had the thought of a fan for outdoors. Are there that many people using them outside?

Hi There "Spoiled Rotten). Our Pleasure. The reason I said to get an "Adapter", and not a "Converter", is the Adapter doesn't se any power if left pluggd in. Where a "Converter do draw a small amount if left plugged in.

But you will find that in time you will need a couple of small Converters, for running 120 volt items. Unless you get a really large one, then it uses even more power. A "Pure Sine Wave" is a good way to go as they have come way down in price. You can get a good 300 amp to a 600 amp Converter for not much more than you'll pay for some brands of Square Wave Converters. Which some items don't like running on "Square Wave" compaired to a "Pure Sine Wave Converters"

    Good Luck. Dan & Jill

    Hi there "Spoiled Rotten".

Our pleasure. it really is a super great Fan to have. Espicailly since it use such a little little bit of power.

Our whole Motorhme is mostly set-up for Boon-Docking. All of our lights inside our Motorhome and inside all of our outside compartments are all "LED Lights.

Winter time is some of the best Boon-Docking times there are. And we don't even have a Mulit-Season Motorhome.

We don't even use our Motorhomes Furance, as they do nothing but suck down Propane and suck down the Propane. I do make sure that it does work in case of an "Emergency".

But we use "Catalitic Propane Heaters"..We can even run past our Motorhomes 30 amp limit with no problems. Besides our 5.5 KW "Built-In Generator". We also have a "Pair of Twin Honda EU2000i's, and the "Paralla Kit" and the "Extended Run Tank". And plenty of 12 guage Extendsion Cords, we can be out in Temps just about as cold as we chose.

There is a lot you can do to a regular so called one season Motorhome, to make it as comfortable and enjoyable as you choose to be. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill. You learn a lot after over 46+ years as "RV'er's and Boon-dockers". You'l hear a lot of people tell you about how much moisture you will have using Propane Heaters. We hardly ever have any at all. We have it done to a fine since. The Oly Wave #6 and the Oly Wave #8 Propane Heaters are great Heaters. They are easy on Propane, and don't use any Power at all.

Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
  • Hi All.

Well, as far as we are concerned, the "Endless Breeze Fan", built by "Fantastic Fans", who also make the Fantastic Fans for your RV's Bathrooms and any other 14x14 opening that you have use for one, is probabley one of the best fans out there.

We have had our "Fantastic Endless Breeze Fan" since they first hit the Market, quite a few years ago.

You also can't beat them for using a little less than 3 amps on High. Great for Boon-Docking. And get yourself an Adapter, and you can also use it on 120 volts as well. One of the Best Mods we have ever done. And we caught ours for less than $50 Dollars.

Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill & our two "Small Yorkie Kids", who love to travel as much as we do.
