To portable dump tank or not to portable dump tank...

that is the question.

I am at a seasonal site right now (my first) and we're in a low lying area so I have to pay $20 a week to get pumped, or pack up and dump myself. I've been looking into a portable dump tank, should I do it?

I am traveling a bit but will be here until October.

  • We do a lot of PA State Park camping, so it's something I take along often but don't use a lot. For me, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. If someone would pump my tanks for $20 at a state park, I'd likely pay it than not.

i agree with Steve. as far as i'm concerned "that much of an inconvenience" means it's worth the $ to lay that job off on someome else.

  • If I were in your position I would gladly pay someone $20 a week so I wouldn't have to mess with it. Heck, I would pay twice that much...
  • If you are willing to heft it, yes. Remember that water weighs 8.25 pounds per gallon.
