Tow vehicle for 5th wheel camper

just inherited a 5th wheel camper. What I'm wondering is, am I'm ok with my 01 Silverado 1500 4x4 with the Z71 suspension and 5.3 with auto trans. The trailer is about 30 feet long and has dual axles.

  • Around flat Moses Lake you'll be ok. Going far, or hilly, or for long periods of time, no.
  • Length doesn't make the call, weight does. What does it weight loaded and ready for camping.
  • Look for a data plate on front left corner.....see what GVWR is on the 5th wheel

Or post year/brand/model of 5th wheel.

Your 2001 1500 is going to be VERY Limited when it comes to 5th wheel due to pin weight.
Your 1500 has to CARRY that weight on rear axle. Trucks RAWR and Rear Tire Load Ratings are going to be the issue
  • Need to find out the weight limit of the rv and the limit of your vehicle.
I had a travel trailer 34 ft at 7500 lbs
And I was at my limit with Same vehicle. But I had a 05
