That is a great program. Surprised Microsoft did not continue it. I still have an old computer with it and still use it.

We plan it out on the computer. Done it that way ever since road maps became available. We refer to all three of Bing, Google & MapQuest, plan out the trip pretty much to the gnat's behind, and print the whole thing out, with larger (or is it smaller?) detail scale of highway interchanges, etc, so we know exactly where we want to go. Where we feel we need even more detail we'll include satellite/birds eye pictures.

Which is kinda funny. When we travel on the bike we don't have a plan, only a destination. We know the general direction and head that way.

Try this site - suggested to me by a fellow traveler - you tell it how far you want to travel from a given point. "Crow flies" mileage, but helpful. ST

Yes...PDX=Portland International Airport. No big deal to lots of us who have lived in Portland Metro area that do use "PDX" frequently. Just saying.

With the demise of all the good stand-alone planners, I have resorted to an on-line called Furkot trip planner. It is free (currently), and it is a little hard to learn but I like it better than what I have seen of RV Trip Wizard.

As neither is a stand-alone program, they cannot be used for enroute navigation and if you don't not carry wire (internet access) any plan you make can be junk at the end of the second day.

So, until someone comes up with a new Trips and Streets Atlas, we real travelers are just scruk with what we can get.

I will keep using SA2015 until its charts are completely junk. They were bad when it was new.

Too bad you can't interface a GPS with Google maps. I hate Google Maps, but at least they are close to up to date.

I've found the Good Sam trip planner easy to master but I don't think there is a specific way to plug in a mileage limit per day. I'm planning a trip from Oregon to Florida for February and picked stopping points about the same distance. What I like with the trip planner is it will give you certain things like RV parks, campgrounds, points of interest in the path you are traveling!

PDX is actually the airport code.
