Truck stop diesel receipt wrong too often?

Just wondering if anyone else has this same problem. We save our receipts to everything and then we check those receipts with our monthly statement to make sure they jive. We've noticed sometimes the fuel charges at truck stops will be off. Usually just a few cents (the last one was 21 cents) in favor of the truck stop. Any of you guys notice the same thing? FYI: We use the truck lanes because the size of our rig.

  • I've never had that happen and I keep all my gas receipts until they post on my CC website.

Yeah, DB had that happen when he fueled up on an Indian reservation. No Bureau of Weights and Measures there.

  • I was told, for whatever it is worth, than sometimes there is a difference on mechanical pumps when read and billed on a digital system.
Problem, not that many mechanical pumps out there any more, just some of the old truckstops and mom and pops.
  • .21 is a big diff. in my opinion. Old-B has it. go after them.

    .21 times 1 million sales....$210,000

WOW, and 1 mill sales is not alot for a big truck stop.
I am not a receipt checker, but I will be from now on :)
  • I agree, it sounds like pure fraud. I've never had the amount ultimately charged be different from the receipt. As was said, a penny here and a penny there add up pretty quickly for someplace that does millions of transactions.
  • There was a story many years ago about a 'national' grocery store that was charging 1 penny more at register than actual costs..

1 Million pennies equals $10,000 dollars.
Pure profit........and they had millions day in/day out

Make copy of your fuel receipt and copy of monthly statement.
Contact Corporate of that truck stop.....send e-mail with copies attached.
Also send same to Attorney Generals Office in state where fuel was purchased.
    Fraud/theft is highly frowned upon.

I also keep/review ALL transaction.......haven't found one off yet. But I still look.
