Vacation from our vacation - Where to park.

The DW and I retired a couple of months ago, and we're going to hit the road in May, and head home in September. I think we have plans for all the items like mail delivery, pool service, etc.

Last year, we made plans with some friends to meet in Hawaii in June. So, we'll be taking a vacation while we're on vacation! We'll be flying out of Salt Lake City airport at that time. But I haven't been able to figure out where to park our TV and 36 foot FW.

Does anybody have any suggestions on where to park for 10 days while we're separated from our rig?

Thanks,

Jim

  • I like that: a vacation from the vacation. Our homes on wheels are like stick and shingles - it's nice to get a break from them and change our scenery.

Long term cgs and RV storage facilities are both options. With the cg, at least there will be people around to keep an eye out on your rig. Storage facilities are usually only fenced and isolated: determined thieves have been known to climb them and rifle stored RVs. My vote is for a cg with monthly options.
  • Remember you'll have food in the Fridge. Yes it can run on propane, but I always felt best leaving the rig on electric.

You can also leave the AC on if it's a smart thing to do for that time/place.

Like I stated above, take a look at a monthly rate. Figure out how much you'll spend camping those 20 days then storage for 10. I think you'll find out it's pretty much a wash.
  • There are numerous C.G near S.L.C, here are SOME

I would contact them and ask if they can store the rig,it would be cheaper than holding a hookup site.
  • When we left for our last cruise it was easiest for us just to find a nice park and leave it there. We took the monthly rate since it cost roughly 2.5 weeks of stay, asked the owners if it was OK prior to leaving the rig. Plugged in the electric and left.

The other times we've left our rig it has always been in a park that we were spending the winter at. Had neighbors that would keep an eye on it even. We've never had a problem while we were gone.
