Valterra Bladex 3" waste valve

I have to replace the dump valve for my black tank. It looks like a fairly simple job. There are 4 bolts keeping it in place. I have a new one but the problem is the 2 rubber seals that came with it. The seals are not flat. One side of each seal has a smaller diameter with a raised face. Does this smaller diameter with raised face go in TOWARDS the Bladex valve or AWAY from the Bladex valve? I've heard that when I remove the old valve the old seals will fall out and I might not see what direction they were facing. Thanks for any help!

  • If it needs replacing the seals will probably not fall out. Mine were stuck pretty good.
The new one had the seals in place.
  • Rubber Ducky1: Back on June 15 of last year (2015) I posted a question re. replacing the black tank valve. Several members offered some worthwhile advice that would have made the job easier if I would have asked before I tried doing it myself.:S It may be worth your time to look at that thread unless you're an old hand at this. Good luck.
  • Surprised there's no diagram on the back of the package it came in.

Those seals are a b-itch and may take time to get them seated. If they aren't seated properly, it will leak.
