Walmart deep cycle battery

That is a hybrid battery and cycle depth is only about 25% for long life.

If you always go to powered campsites it will work ok. But for boondocking it is pretty much a "feather weight".

Batteries designed to start a motor and to provide deep discharges for the RV house do neither well.

Per my conversation with one of the technical people at Johnson controls who make the EverStart batteries for Walmart the 27DC battery is a true deep cycle battery. For some reason Walmart wanted the cold cranking specification added to the information on the battery so Johnson Controls put it on there. During my conversation the same person told me that the Everstart 27MS was the marine starting hybrid battery.

This is the same for the group 24 and the group 32 batteries. If it has DC in the battery number it is a true deep cycle battery. If it has MS in the battery number then it is a marine starting hybrid battery. Unless they lied and are making the same identical battery and putting DC on one and MS on the other.

I have been using them for years for my RV and boat trolling motor. I get 5-6 years out of them with proper care

I have had a group 32 DC from Walmart for over a year and so far so good. I would buy again.

Never used it in my RV, but last year I replaced 4 batteries in one of my boats that were going on 6 years old. Two of them were DC and the other 2 were dual purpose (start and DC). I replaced them with new Wal-Mart batteries. Also bought 2 new 29DC batteries for my offshore boat last year as well. I expect them to last just as long.

That battery is a decent battery and excellent for the price. In spite of people saying otherwise, it is a true deep-cycle.

But there is a much better deal out there right now. Pep Boys has the same battery, labelled as a Champion, in both 27 and 29 (essentially the same as a 31) for $71.24. You have to order online, but you can pick it up in the store.

The 29 is 210 minute RC and a good choice if you have room for it.

lots of options out there just depends on what you want to spend and how you want to use them....lots of dry camping?

If it says MARINE it is not DEEP CYCLE.. if it says GC it is (GC-2)

Trolling batteries may also be DEEP CYCLE. But I've never seen them in the store.

I used the 27DC for many years, but had to replace them every 2-3 years. During the second or third year, they would not last the night running my furnace. Have switched to two 6v GC-2s from Sam's Club and am very pleased with them. On my fourth year and still going strong.
