- Blazing_ZippersExplorer IIHalf our over night stops might be dry camping, but now that we're more retired, travel is going to increase. Thusly, I looking for more storage.
The two batteries currently in use are mistakenly deep cycle starting batteries. I would just like to add to this arrangement. I have the room for two more batteries and as much as I'd like 6 volt batteries, I'd probably have to change all the set up. I can handle the added weight, but would like to keep it down if possible.
Thanks to all who responded. Maybe I'll have to head over to WM and git batteries--but Pep Boys will be on the way. - jkwilsonExplorer III

Trolling batteries may also be DEEP CYCLE. But I've never seen them in the store.
They are deep-cycle batteries by definition. There is nothing magical about a golf car battery and nothing distinguishes them from a marine deep-cycle in construction or chemistry. - starcraft69ExplorerJust a quick reminder if you RV Park camp it really doesn't matter what battery. If you dry camp then it will matter. I see so many people waste money on expensive batteries and all they do is use full hook-ups.
- zigzagrvExplorerI used the 27DC for many years, but had to replace them every 2-3 years. During the second or third year, they would not last the night running my furnace. Have switched to two 6v GC-2s from Sam's Club and am very pleased with them. On my fourth year and still going strong.

lots of options out there just depends on what you want to spend and how you want to use them....lots of dry camping? - jkwilsonExplorer IIIThat battery is a decent battery and excellent for the price. In spite of people saying otherwise, it is a true deep-cycle.
But there is a much better deal out there right now. Pep Boys has the same battery, labelled as a Champion, in both 27 and 29 (essentially the same as a 31) for $71.24. You have to order online, but you can pick it up in the store.

The 29 is 210 minute RC and a good choice if you have room for it. - WTP-GCExplorer

I'll second this...
Never used it in my RV, but last year I replaced 4 batteries in one of my boats that were going on 6 years old. Two of them were DC and the other 2 were dual purpose (start and DC). I replaced them with new Wal-Mart batteries. Also bought 2 new 29DC batteries for my offshore boat last year as well. I expect them to last just as long. - CaLBaRExplorer III have had a group 32 DC from Walmart for over a year and so far so good. I would buy again.
