Water enters bowl but ball does not move . . .

I just picked up a cable replacement kit (34106) for my Thetford toilet.
When the foot pedal is down water comes into the bowl but the waste ball does not move. I knew the seal needed to be replaced but now I wonder should I replace that old ball also. If you have experience with this issue and solved the problem please advice. Thanks in advance.

p.s. It is a Thetford style plus model.

  • God, patience and time once again saved the day. I didn't buy after all. I followed the instructions which came with the (two) repair kits; i.e. ball, new seal in one and 34102 (kit) in the other. It is a step by step procedure but taking my time and double checking as I moved forward got the 'lou' - jig-a-do. BB
  • Thanks all for you info/help, etc. I've started looking around for a new Thetford Style Plus both on-line and locally (in Canada) - for 175 bucks, approx. So far, no such luck! Any hints - anyone. BB

When you buy a new ball.. the replacement for that plastic rod... BRASS!!!!
  • Just had same problem with a dometic 310.
Turned out to be the plastic rod that attaches foot petal holding spring had a plastic piece broken.
    Bought a new toilet.
One week later while 2500 km from home vacuum breaker went on new toilet!!!
    Good luck
  • On closer examination it appears another part (34102) - a waste ball drive arm is also required. BB
  • Sounds like a linkage or cable to the slide ball is broke or not attached.
