No GW believers I know, including me, are telling people what to do. We're telling our government what to do. That's where real change starts.
Thank you. Some truth shines through.
And therein lies one of the biggest problems for me, found in your statement.
When you are telling your government what to do, you are in fact telling other people what to do. You want the government to step in and legislate, or somehow mandate a change on your behalf. The government then tells other's what they can or cannot do via those mandates. To say you are not telling other's what to do is nonsense. You are simply hiding behind the government. You are the wizard of oz, hiding behind the curtain.
I have a real problem with individuals that demand or preach that change is needed, change that can lead to restrictions or taxes on other individuals, yet they continue to live aspects of the very lifestyle that are supposedly leading to the very problems they are trying to change. No matter how small a part they are still living.
Especially when the demand for change is based on what it is.
It is the height of human arrogance to think we know for certain what is going on, and more importantly, that it is or is not man made.
It was roughly but a scant 10,000 years ago (that is nothing on a geological time line) that we were in the last ice-age where ice, some as thick as a mile plus, was covering much of the world. The earth has had huge climate shifts over billions of years, and to say that we know anything for certain is nonsense, but typical of our ingrained arrogance. The timeline for the data we have, when looked at in the context of the roughly 4 billion year age of the earth, is statistically insignificant.
And then there is the "follow the money." So many aspects of our society have become nothing but ponzi-schemes, have become consumed by fraud and agenda-filled "facts." There is money and an agenda behind -everything- these days. The media, the government, universites, "science," all of it. Like the carbon credit trading exchange that gore and his ilk were trying to set-up back in the day. Few are truly in it for the "cause." And if they start that way, the money soon corrupts. Like grant money for all these "studies." Don't come up with findings that support the individuals awarding the grants, grant $$ goes buh-bye.
Do I think we could use less pollution/garbage in our world? Of course. And for decades in this country we have been successfully following down that path (remember lake erie burning or smog covered LA) But to say that we are are, for certain, heading for some catastrophic conclusion is, to me, suspect. Especially when those preaching it still drive around in RV's. Or fly around in their own private jets. To me, anybody continuing to drive an RV (etc.) is as much a "denier" of their own science as anyone else.
