You are, sadly, far too accurate on this - and it is a vicious circle. We have three kids (8, 7, and 4). We try VERY hard to teach consideration for others, following rules, respect, etc... The frequent result of this, however, is they get walked on, and left out, by those who do not have the same behavioral expectations. It's a very difficult balance to strike with young kids, and I find myself growing more frustrated with it all the time!
