DW and I pulled into a State Park in FL. Next site was about 12 spring breakers. 3 or 4 tents. Guys and gals. And stuff all over the place. They had their typical party going on. At 10:00 they shut it down. No more music. Some quiet conversation/laughter around the remainder of the camp fire. We went to bed at 11:00 and never heard a peep. Next day they were off and running at 8:00. Beaching, and around town. Back at 6:00PM to do it all over again. Went this way for 3 or 4 days. They had a blast. We got to know them. They wanted a tour of our 5'r. And without asking, they removed their shoes before entering. And addressed us as sir and Ma'am. We gave one a few band-aids when she cut her foot.
What a wonderful experience for us. Rebuilt our faith in today's younger generation. Maybe kids in the early teens are buttheads. And maybe their parents are too. But when those kids get out on their own, they grow into fine people. It's when they get older that they turn into the ME generation.
Yet I fail to see the need to paint all kids with such a broad brush. Some (a few) may deserve the bad reputation. But the vast majority are wonderful. What we need to do is remember when we were kids. And cut them a little slack. Let them spread there wings and fly. They manage to find their way.
If you doubt that, go on a college tour...and just look around. You'll be surprised...No....I doubt you'll be surprised. But I think you may have forgotten. JMHO
