Whats the best Roadmaster bar to use w/these brackets?

I believe these are in fact roadmaster brackets on this geo tracker. One of the previous owners kept the towbar and I need to figure out which bar to buy to fit these brackets.

I'm hoping to find a used one on ebay or maybe ever here on RV.net

I like that idea but will those towbars work with the mounts I have on my tracker?

I did email roadmaster and ask them what they think too.

    thanks all for your help.

thanks! I will look for a stowmaster.

Send an email to Roadmaster http://roadmasterinc.com/contact.html

    email link

Include the year, make, and model of the car. Also include a picture of the front end and links to the pictures (in case their email system removes images from emails).

    Ask them:
Which of their tow bars they recommend for my (above described) car?
Do you recommend a hitch-based tow bar recommend over a car-based tow bar for my car?
What additional parts are needed at the brackets on my car in order to accept a tow bar? Please also provide part numbers.

Roadmaster is very good at replying to inquiries.

It's easy to remove and reinstall but it's heavy and where do you put it? We got vehicle-mounted because I wanted a ball hitch to tow with something other than the RV. BAD CHOICE! For the few times I've ever done that, and it might have actually been once, I have that monstrosity to put up with, every trip.
    Go Coach-Mounted!

  • I don't think I'd leave the towbar on the car while I was using the car. It must be fairly easy to remove and reattach right?

I had a Suzuki just like that Tracker and you will not be satisfied with a Stowmaster. It hangs unsprung weight well forward of the front axle and causes all kinds of suspension geometry problems, if you leave it on the vehicle while not towing. Been there, done that for thousands of miles so have a little knowledge of what will happen. That is the reason we went to the next higher model, which stays on the RV, not the toad.
  • I have a Sidekick, same brackets and I use a Roadmaster Stow Master. You don't need a crossbar, only the mounting adapters. Roadmaster makes adapters for all major makes and models of tow bars.

The Stow Master is heavy and If I ever need another tow bar I'll get the lightweight version and maybe one that stays on the RV. I have a Suzi GV also and use the same tow bar on it.
  • You are missing the cross bar. With the cross bar, any of the Roadmaster tow bars will work, but I prefer the AT series, that remain on the RV instead of adding unsuspended weight to the front of your toad.
