Why are you attracted to the RV lifestyle?

It is always funny, when people post questions like this.

I recently met a wonderful Swiss couple. They have just completed a 5 year journey. Starting on a large BMW motorcycle and ended up in a truck camper.
120Km around the world and then again in the truck camper. Many times Anita would have to walk because of the roads, bridges or going over the Himalayas.

As we were talking it became apparent, that his friends, employers and family thought they had lost it and kept asking why. This couple had everything you could ask for careers, homes, apartment, and the toys.

They chose not to ask people if they should do it, rather he started asking himself "Why Not". :)






Sooner or later it is all about you. What makes you different then anyone else.

So as Markus and Anita would ask Why Not.

Yup, I agree with most all of the previous posts. I love the magic windows on our rig. I can put whatever We like in them- Grand Tetons one day, desert another day, ocean another day. Never gets old.

Where else can you stay in one place for a week or so, build a campfire every night and in the process meet a cross section of America, with a few foriegners thrown in.

What attracts me to RVing? New people to meet and sights to see, plus fair weather.

About retirement: Most of our relatives worked hard and retired due to age or infirmity. They didn't daydream about what they would like to do "someday", nor did they have hobbies or pastimes. Those folks are hating retirement. My DH on the other hand decided the hours, phone calls and stress were getting old and he was looking forward to a change. He and I have a nice social life and many things we enjoy besides working, so we like retirement very much. I think if one really enjoys work, then why quit until you have things that you look forward to in the next chapter of life.

The answer is very simple. We want to see everything and wanted to take the house with us. A MH has made that dream come true and we take advantage of it every chance we get.

Its called FREEDOM from work commentmits, every day of getting up and doing the same thing, pressure from your boss to do more for less everyday, retire or workamp a few hours a week, enjoy yourself and your spouse, have coffee, plan the day or do nothing at all, thats the lifestyle, you do what you want to do 24-7, if you do not like an area, leave make yourself HAPPY, there are NO RULES, just enjoy, Sincerely Wolf3gang, Hacy and Joyce Wright, our little schnauzer Wolfgang passed away in November, There were 3 of us now only 2, Happy Hollidays.

When you were born, brought up then spent your whole life on a 20sq mile island it takes many many miles before you get tired of traveling. We were like caged animals. 7 seasons & over 120,000 miles later, we are still going strong. Our various routes backwards & forwards across the US & Canada look like the web of a demented spider. Out of necessity there has been some duplication over some roads & multi use of a few CGs but most of the time we are still seeing something new as we roll along.

These days we are back on the island, never more than 1/2 mile from the ocean from November to April doing all that home owner stuff like painting & major yardwork.

What's not to like? Obviously, it's the cost of diesel, AND the insurance.
Everything else about RVing is attractive.

I'm wound a little too tight (cant sit still. always needing something to do) the stress from work was catching up with me. The economy took a toll on my retirement options. All that being said enjoy life now ! Bought a camper a few years back, went a our first trip and all I did was think about going back. It has gotten alot easier after I learned to relax! Take the time and enjoy your adventure now!! You never know when its your turn for the "dirt nap"!
