Why do people spell Cummins with a "ings" ?

WOW long thread about nothing :)
I just posted to make it longer cause, eh, why not?

I like to correct people who knowingly comment on my Chevy with its DURAMAX. No it is not. It has an Isuzu diesel.

People said "Cummings" LONG before spell checkers ever came into existance.

The only thing that i got from this post is that grade three ers should be taught the correct spelling on Cummins.

Not so much with Cummins vs Cummings but when people don't even know which way to spell break (or brake), or similar things, it detracts from their post. Not as bad as people who write run on sentences with no pronunciation.
