Why the extra bathroom door?

Many units include an additional pocket door between the bathroom and bedroom. This seems like such a waste to me. That area could be used for so many other things. It makes sense if the main door might be blocked by a closed slide, but otherwise what's the use? Am I missing something?

  • A pocket door doesn't really take up much space. Ours isn't configured that way but some of the fifth wheel floorplans we're looking at when we upgrade in a few years include a pocket door setup. I don't really see it as a big deal either way, although a pocket door could make that middle of the night pit stop slightly easier. I think the Jayco 29.5 BHOK has one and it's one of our favorite layouts. Ditto the 325BHQS.

That's just it. To me the only non-private moment would be that instant you step from your bedroom to the hallway to the bathroom and could potentially be seen while in the hallway. Otherwise, with the pocket door there, you get to hear each and every detail of a child's (or anybody's) night time visit to the restroom. And it simplifies the little buggers' ability to spy into your bedroom too. Dumb door. :)

  • Never understood that either.
    Odd idea

We like the idea of an extra door to the bathroom from the outside to cut down on the dirt traffic
  • Just my opinion here, but I think many people like them because it gives them a feeling of having a "master bath", but it also makes it available to others that are staying in the RV. I would prefer to have a private master bath that's only open to the master bedroom, but I can't really afford to go that big.
