why would you do that?

The reasons are pretty well covered. For us it's mainly the size of the water heater limits the length of the shower time. We like showers that are 15-30 minutes depending on our aches and pains for the day. The little 6 gal water heater just doesn't keep up. It's the reason I'm wanting to get a tankless water heater for the mh. Personally, IMHO, I think RV companies should make a tankless wh standard in all RVs.

When we stay at state parks with decent facilities we will tend to use the showers primarly to save gray tank capacity. Secondly, Navy showers are fine but sometimes I like to take an unrestricted hot shower.

Well, good for you. But if an explanation will calm your mind -
I use the on board shower all the time, but it doesn't compare to the room in my shower at home. Or the amount of hot water that's available. Or the water heater that doesn't use my propane. I rarely use a CG shower except for the Cabela's CG in Sidney, NE. Private lockable shower rooms that are cleaned after each use, all the hot water you want and a dry place to dry off. And all of this about 20 feet from your RV with water, elec, cable and dump station for $30/night.
Oh - and a free corral for your horses. :)

I started using public showers and bathrooms in 1978 when I joined the YMCA and went everyday before work. I continued that when RVing.I guess that makes it about 35 years now.
I have never had a health problem with them. We have always used our shower in the RV for storage and hanging clothes. Some of us don't have the money to buy large RVs as the OP must have.
Most of us do not care where others shower. I also don't care to know why so many RVers eat out all the time instead of using their kitchen. Nor why RVers buy desert when they can make it themselves. In fact I never ask those questions.

We also bought a fifth wheel with a huge residential sized shower, but I will continue to use our campground's big, private, clean, hot showers. I'll use mine when the public showers are occupied or when the mosquitos or weather change my mind. To each his own.

So why don't all of you just take out your shower and install something that would make sense to you? Wow...

Cuz for most it's not an every time thing. And it's there if you ever need it. There's probably things on your unit that use rarely or not at all.

Other reasons: Time. There's 3 of us, one shower. If we are trying to get somewhere more quickly, we'll use the camp showers. Or if nobody wants to wait. For example, when we beach it the guys will use the camp showers and I'd use the MH shower. Also, when my hair was very long it was much easier to use the camp shower. Sometimes we'll disconnect the night before an early departure so we aren't making a lot of noise in the a.m. and use the cg bathhouse in the morning. And sometimes just because.

I have to agree with the above. Hot water that doesn't run out - well at least most of the time. And I can stand there and just enjoy it.

If the campground showers are clean I use them, more room and I can shower longer. I use MH when cold or raining.
