Huh? :h
We too have pretty much given up on the books and rely almost 100% on DW's iPhone/iPad apps and the internet. - traveylinExplorerThanks for the info Ellen....The hard copy is important to use because our traveling area is between Brownsville Texas and Seattle Wash, which has lots of non coverage area for on line applications. And our planning style is to pick the next location 24-36 hours in advance. I will get a copy of the Good Sam RV travel Guide.
Traveyln - Traveler_IIExplorerThank you Ellen for the quick reply. I look forward to seeing the new directory, in fact right ow we are about a mile from a Camping World in Bakersfield, CA I will stop by and see if they have the new one. I do use your app for my I-phone but's it hard for the way we travel. The best tool we have right now is our 2012 East and West Woodalls. When we're out west like now we put the one away and use the other not a problem.
I will give the new 2014 a try. Again I like it that you are checking this forum for feedback. What a great way to keep in touch with your customer base- Thanks. - ETysonExplorerHello Travelyn,
I work for Good Sam. Thank you for your feedback, I'd like to provide information on why there is just one directory.
Last year our two brands, Woodall's and Trailer Life Directory, merged and for 2013 we published just one volume - the Good Sam RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory.
Over the years members had asked us why there were two directories – two made it difficult to choose which one to buy and so much of the listing information was duplicated in both. It made a lot of sense that when the two brands merged we also combined the two directories and their data into one.
The new Good Sam RV Travel Guide combines all that great listing and RVing information together into one complete travel guide, plus all campgrounds are now rated using the trusted Good Sam Rating System. No more deciding which one to buy.
Throughout 2013, members provided valuable feedback that let us know the Directory was getting too big. They asked that we condense the information included to make the size of the directory easier to use. For 2014 we provide basic information for both private and public parks. You’ll find we include the Good Sam Ratings for privately owned parks. And because we know how important the Good Sam camping discount is, we have included information on our Good Sam Parks, as well as other featured campgrounds.
For smartphones users you'll find the same up-to-date data on the Good Sam Camping App (this supersedes the Woodall's and Trailer Life Directory apps) and online through our website's campground search at GoodSamClub.com and GoodSamCamping.com. Good Sam Members can also access the new Trip Planner tool on GoodSamClub.com.
We appreciate and take very seriously, the feedback we get back from our members. It helps us to continually look for ways to improve our products and services to you.
Kind regards,
Ellen Tyson

Good Sam Enterprises - MTPockets1ExplorerI threw out all my campground books. Internet & phone apps work well.

I got the big book last year and found it so large it is almost unusable. Ads for CW and so much other stuff that the book is double the size you want for CG info.
We also bought one last year and find it real hard to use when we are RVing, book is just to big. We are still using our 2012 Woodalls East and West books. We have a Good Sam app on our I-phone but we don't like it as much as the old books.
The part we enjoy about RVing is being spontaneous, we pull out around 10 am maybe go 2-300 miles and explore along the way taking back roads if we can. With the book we can look ahead to find a town with a campground . With the app you need to know the name of a town ahead of you or you might pick one in the wrong direction.
Sure wish they would bring back the old two books. - bsinmichExplorerI got the big book last year and found it so large it is almost unusable. Ads for CW and so much other stuff that the book is double the size you want for CG info.

You can access both without signing in. Technically I am a member but I did not 'activate' yet but I use the APP and the web.
But I cannot sign into the members site yet. Has anyone used the trip planner? Is it helpful?
I don't use those on line planning things because where I am isn't something I would put on line. - sch911Explorer

I went looking for a 2014 copy of Woodalls western campgrounds and all searches wind up with Goodsam travel books. Did a change in ownership take place? What is the best substitute for the Woodalls I know and use extensively.

Good Sams Enterprises (formerly Afinity Group) aquired Woodall's in May of 1994 almost 20 years ago! - DtaylorExplorerRVPARKY and Mobile RVing are both good apps. Woodall's still has an app available as well.
