Worried about "break ins"

Worried about break-ins, why? Just have quility insurance and no more worries.

Now as I see it there is a problem with burglar alarms on the market today....
They do not alarm the burglar.. I mean he knows he has time before the Police show up.. So he just carries on.

So here is my suggestion... a high quality audio system and a CD

When the Perimeter is breached. The system goes live and starts the CD playing.. About a minute of digital silence (Which of course is total silence) followed by one sound effect.

The sound of a pump action shotgun being made ready to FIRE

Trust me.. That will be one ALARMED burglar....

The other system is a bit more complex. the P-K9 system

Burglar is loading stuff into his pillow case when he hears a soft voice "Jesus is watching you"

Well after a couple repeates he discovers it's comming from the parrot, he addresses the bird.

"So what, you are just a bird in a cage, what can you do?"

The bird relies. "Oh, I'm not Jesus, I'm Moses"

Burglar: "What kind of idiot names his bird Moses"

Bird: "Same kind that names his Rottweiler Jesus.... And Jesus is watching you"

Jesus: Growl

My opinion is, and I tell my wife this all the time(she grew up in a town and went to college in Philly), criminals do more bad things in towns because;

1 More options. House A has a dog or people are home, go 2 houses down.
2 If you are breaking into houses to get money for drugs, you most likely don't have a car to drive far away places.
3 Generally city people live in the city because they probably don't like the country. Meaning, the country is a big bad dark place at night with lots of scary animals and rednecks with guns. I am getting at is city criminals are scared of the country.



I feel more secure in the country than in the city. I have lived in a small city for a couple years and had cars broken into.

I have lived in the country the rest of my life and have never had any issues with break ins or criminals.

JMO. And if I stereotyped anybody, thats too bad.

First-hand experience here:

Make sure you read the reviews and insure for replacement value, as well as have a database, with the pictures and serials of any/all items.

When in doubt, get a rider for the specific items (computers, guns, jewelry, etc.)

I'd also look into floor safes as well. Multiple ones. Just remember, they can floor, so store valuables in a watertight container before putting them in the safe.

Oh, don't expect tweakers to heed -any- signage whatsoever. They really don't care about anything except their next fix.

Insurance.....Thieves are gonna want the stuff that has monetary value and not the irreplaceable personal items.

I am in the same boat. The whole world knows we are packing up since we are visible from the county road.

Been running trouble free for 15 years with the alarm system. Also have a zone on it for flooding and too high or low temp. I have the security sign posted at the entrance to our lane. Might as well let the bad guys know in advance that the place is alarmed. The company monitoring station has phone numbers to call in priority. That way if the sump 0pump fails (and I do have a back up there) we get the call.

BTW, in our locale, there are bad guys that are not meth heads and tweekers.
