Then WHY suck the bottom of tank :H
Since I sucked 26.4 gallons out of a 26 gallon tank, don't ya think it sucks the bottom of the tank all the time. In addition, it's not like the old days of steel tanks. - YnotTurboExplorerExactly why I have a 50 gallon aux tank in the bed of my truck. 82 gallons of fuel...
- fla-gypsyExplorerI've ran mine down to zero and it still had 2-3 gallons left.
- OasisbobExplorerWe once ran totally out of fuel on I-5 coasted off the freeway (north end of Grants Pass) took the down hill through a green light and right up to the pump at the first station on the right. But I don't reccomend this. Fill er up my friend.

OP here. Actually, I passed 3 stations in the last 30 miles, but from previous experience I knew it would go to 1 before running out. I actually got to the casa with 20 miles to E. The trip to the gas station the next day is what brought it to 1 to E.
It's all downhill from my house to the station so I wasn't worried, so I was getting 25 MPG+ on that trip but the lie-o-meter was basing DTE on the 7.7 shown. ...and did I mention that I always carry a 5 gallon spare in the bed when traveling in the desert.

Then WHY suck the bottom of tank :H - lawnspecialtiesExplorerMine goes below "O miles to empty" on my gas truck without a problem. I carry spare gas with my landscape business so I push it once in awhile.
I'd never do that with my diesel though. - joshuajimExplorer IIOP here. Actually, I passed 3 stations in the last 30 miles, but from previous experience I knew it would go to 1 before running out. I have a 37 gallon tank and when the mile counter get that low I can only get 27-28 gallon in the tank. I think Ford does that because they know people will always push it to the limit.
- TucsonJimExplorer IIThank goodness for having a diesel with a 50 gallon aftermarket fuel tank.

Mine too. I will fill up even if at 3/4 tank, if I'm already stopped for something else, and it's convenient. Waiting until you absolutely have to is really scary!
Man, that is my worst nightmare when towing....
I also top off whenever we stop for something else.... And when running somewhere I have never been before , I start looking at 1/2 . With a 51 gallon tank , that leaves me PLENTY of padding.
I was always taught NOT to let the tank get that low as it would suck up all the debris from the bottom ( if any )
