if that's what it takes to make you feel self sufficient i'm sorry for you. as for me and most of the people of Oregon we like our gas pumped. if you don't like it stay away, if it bothers you I suggest you read a book or something to get your mind off of it, you'll feel better.

Bought fuel in OR one time. I pulled in with a diesel and started pumping, then got confronted with the bull stuff. While diesel might be OK to pump, tell that to the attendants that need something to do. Glad that I have a large tank so there will never be another purchase in OR. When I become so useless that I cannot pump fuel, it would be time to quit driving as well.
While I found the whole Oregon gas pump thing a little strange when we moved out here, what I cannot fathom is how or why anyone would care or give 2 schitts as to whether a gas station was full service or not. Some of you folks here on geezernet.com need some new things to complain about! Lol.
x2. BTW the fuel station I go to always asks if I want my diesel truck topped off. I always say no because they'll spend the next 2-3 mins trying to dribble more in. Oh and they're not teenagers either. All adults. - goducks10Explorer

The people I know that move there from CA are because they cash out their houses and then retire with a cheaper house and a boatload of cash.
you Californians are moving here because they don't like it down there, can't blame them.
Yep. Thats one of the reasons the Bend area took off like a rocket years ago. - badsixExplorer

Nope .... they can't and/or won't .... try as they may.
It took me years to learn just the right ways to do real tank top offs on our 4X4 pickup, our daily driver sedan, and our RV. I'm convinced that the methods are particular pump mechanism dependent and particular vehicle (not model, or model year) dependent - no general techniques or training will suffice.
Of course if Oregon wants to have local station experts plug in an EV refilling cable in the rain - then they are welcome to it. I have been electrical shocked before ... and it's far worse than gasoline spills on the clothing. :)
By the way ... aren't a whole bunch of Oregonians ex-Californians? If so, I'm too polite to talk about why folks wind up having to, or wanting to - move.
here in my local area they will top off if you ask. they aren't suppose to but most will and I do have mine toped sometimes. I really don't get the idea of having to top off. it gives my truck about 2 more gal. why top off, when the gauge gets down I just fill it again. i did go wilderness camping last summer, we were going to be about 30 mi. from the nearest gas so I took an extra 5 gal in a can. but I didn't need it as I stopped an filled up at the last town before our camp site. I just see no reason to worry about topping off my tank.
yep, you Californians are moving here because they don't like it down there, can't blame them. I just wish they would leave there California attitude there instead of trying to make Oregon like the place they ran away from.

its the attendants job to assist you if they can, no reason to be hostile. "THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER PURCHASE IN OREGON", THAT REALLY HURTS, you need to lighten up!

In what other state would the County Tax Collector go to your ocean view home and measure the windows that provide an ocean view and use that as a basis for you property taxes.
That's OK ... if Oregon would combine it with their version of "Prop 13" so that after still living in one's same home for 30-40 years the Tax Assessor's Office continued to tax you based on the size of your windows 30-40 years ago ... like is done here in good old California. :B
Back on topic - I sure wish Californians would Californicate Oregon faster/better so I could pump my own gas in Oregon like we can here in California so I could fill my RV tank to it's real top by using the pump handle angles and taking the time to do it that an attendant won't take, ever. :B :B
please don't Californicate Oregon faster just because you want your tank toped off. all you need to do is ask the attendant. please top off my tank, they will. but please don't californicate us we like the way we are not the way you are.
