- JourneyerExplorerWell, Doug, I just have to respond that my website pages about this subject were not written because I have a lot of time, but because I thought other RVers should know about the ridiculous way this whole thing has been handled by Norcold through the years. Everything was based on my personal experience, talks with Norcold, NHTSA, other Norcold owners and I linked material with conclusions by respected authorities on the subject, not just suppositions.
I was upset enough when my cooling unit quit working, but when I heard about so many who lost everything due to the fires these ill-designed units caused, I couldn't remain silent. I'm a retired legal assistant, so my research was well conducted and I stand by it.
But it is very important to me that I convey the truth as best I can, so if you have something specific you have found wrong in anything I've said, do let me know and I'll be glad to check it out and correct anything necessary.

I am presently receiving class action settlement checks from Norcold. One check a year for years to come.
And going to replace my Norcold 1210 with a Samsung SF18 residential unit. I have lots of solar and big Magnum inverter to power it.
This "Article" is filled with suppositions and plain false conclusions. Just a rant by someone that has the time to write a blog. Doug- was_butnotnowExplorerA very good article on Norcold units by Malia Miles

I believe they are Norcold 1210 no ice maker
This refer has been out about 22 years and there are millions of them. They operate very well as long as they are installed to spec. Dougbillyboy wrote:

I have the 12cu ft side by side with ice maker. A few things to keep in mind. Its a larger fridge than standard so it takes longer to get cold, and will use more LP when dry camping. In addition if its located in a slide it can be somewhat susceptible to temp fluctuations if vents are in the sun. This is because it vents out the side of the slide vs roof in non-slide models. There may be 1 or 2 fans in the fridge cavity to assist in circulating air...and they are often cheap and loud. One final issue I encountered during routine cleaning is I sprayed too much water on the lower vent. This put the circuit board into an "over temp limit" that I had to reset. Be cautious spraying a lot of water in/around the lower vent. Otherwise I love all the space it provides for extended trips.
How did you reset the over temp limit box?
He did not cause the Control board to "overtemp". He caused the Safety Temps box to trip. Different part. You use a magnet to reset it. Doug- IvylogExplorer IIIIt does not work well, especially in a slideout. Many a RV has burned because of the NoCold 12xx POS. RUN
