2018 Jayco Eagle HT - Schwintek slide tweaked

2018 27.5' Eagle HT 5th wheel

I purchased 2 months ago and used once. Prior (and original) owner puchased new and used once or twice.

Has anyone ever heard of the slide frame member getting twisted under normal use, as opposed to being shipped that way?

Independent service replaced one of the schwintek motors on kitchen slide. Problem still persisted and upon further digging, report that the front side slide frame member is actually twisted.

As expected (unfortunately) Jayco says I'm on my own. No discussion; no effort to appease a customer or accept any responsibility or even to offer/support further evaluation to determine IF it actually is a factory or manufacturer issue.

I've heard of RV manufacturers standing behind their products but apparently JAYCO isn't one of them.

So, back to my original question - is it even possible to twist a schwintek slide frame member such that it creates a binding when moving the slide in and out??

BTW - prior owner says the slide was always "tight" and he had to resynch schwintek once, despite using the trailer just a few times.

Suggestions on how to proceed with Jayco, other than avoiding them with my next purchase???

    2. You purchased USED
    3. Yes, a Schwintek slide can "twist", but it is NOT a Factory build that would cause it. It would be getting the trailer frame twisted by not being on a correct road or surface.
    4. You REALLY think the previous owner would tell YOU the truth? That he only used it a few times????? Maybe this problem is why he sold the RV. Because maybe Jayco already denied if he was out of the Jayco 2 year warranty. Jayco's warranty is only for the first Owner. Doug

    You DON'T....there is no proceeding with Jayco, you bought it used.

    A couple of thoughts in attempt to be helpful.

    There is a Jayco owners forum where you might find specific experiences on the same or similar issues. Hopefully, someone will have experience or insight that can help you.

    Some of the HT models are known for having the sidewalls separate from the frame. This tends to happen up in the front section. I didn’t catch if this is the main slide or the bedroom/front slide, but if this is the front slide, perhaps this is some to investigate.

    Hopefully something will surface that helps you solve the problem.

    Since you really don't know the history, concerning possible twist/damage, you can't blame the manufacturer. Like mentioned, you purchased used, no manufacturer's warranty. I would also suspect that original owner sold it, due to this issue. Unless you had a written statement from seller, saying everything works properly, little chance of recourse there.

    I'd suggest talking with the independent service, that said it is twisted, to get an estimate of proper repair. If you can find a good mobile repair person to look at it, for a second opinion, and possible repair/estimate, you will have a better idea of how to proceed.

    If you were MY potential repair customer (I work on Jayco's and are a Jayco dealer,25 years we have Jayco), I would replace the complete Schwintek slide rack system. This would allow me to get the racks aligned as needed when mounting to the slide hole and not have to worry about "twisted parts". The Schwintec system comes as a SET. Both front and rear Racks and motors. Labor for complete replacement would be 4 to 5 hours. Doug
