30 amp TT using 50amp with dogbone

I like to use the 50 amp receptacles when possible as they are usually in better shape. I use a good 50amp to 30 amp dogbone and my 30 amp P.I. EMS system. I was wondering if by doing this am I giving up any protection that my EMS was designed to provide?

Nope ... that 50 amp male > 30 amp female dogbone is wired to just one leg of the 50 amp service and that's what your EMS sees, just as it would when plugged into 30 amp service which of course is also just a single leg - hot, neutral, ground.

I am surprised the doomseay folks have not already posted their fears... But you are safe.. The only danger... Well.. you'e need a lab to make it happen, can not happen 'in the wild' (a partial short drawing just under 50 amps in the cord, I can do it with test gear, but only with test gear).
