For those of you that might be interested, I created a sound enclosure for the genset, which has worked quite well. I don't have a meter, so just have to say it's substantially quiter than out of the box.
Thermal measurements indicate without the box, 115 degrees, with the box, about 150 or so with IR temp at the block on various places. This is still way within the operating limits.
