Picked up the Champion C75520E. It's the 1900W LPG generator, similar to the other Champions on here. I ran it Sat and Sun, just messing around with it in my driveway. Had it hooked up to the tent trailer with all the lights and fans on, plus a box fan in the garage plugged in. Worked real well. However, I don't have any experience with generators, so I don't have anything to compare the "noise" output to. Honestly, it sounded loud to me, but my neighbor came over and mentioned how "quiet" it sounded to him. Hmm...??? I wonder.
Anyway, I did this below mod tonight. Like said, very simple, quick, and easy. Cleaned all serfaces real good. I used blue RTV silicone (about a 1/8" bead around the outside and inside edge of the flywheel). Used red threadlock on all nuts/screws. I will wait 'till Wed to fire it back up and see if it helped any of the noise. Please let me know what your experience with this mod was in terms of noise reduction.
I also built a box from drop ceiling pannels tonight. I doubled up the pannels (glued them back to back) and butt screwed the pieces together. Then went over the seams with duct tape. It's heavier and weaker than I anticipated. I have cut the holes for the exhaust and electrical pannel. I will need to cut some more holes for ventilation and maybe lighten it up a bit. Thinking about adding a 12v electrical vent fan on the top. I don't know if I want to get into it that much. Anyone else have any experience with "boxing" their unit?

Anyone have a picture of where you put the RTV silicone on the white fan to reduce some of the noise from that end? Or can explain the process?
Thanks everyone.

Scroll down toward the bottom of the page. The original post seems to have disappeared, but you don't need to remove the starter first, remove the starter and housing as a unit.
Did mine today. Here are a few pics.
Approximate location of the starter and housing unit bolts are here. (Pic wasn't taken at the right angle to actually show you all of the bolts, but they're pretty obvious.)
Next comes the flywheel nut. This is 19mm, or a 3/4" socket fits, also. I used an air wrench to bump it off. Putting it back on, I stuck a big screwdriver through the holes on that silver thing so I could apply some torque.
Here's a pic of the exposed flywheel. I drew in the places where I put the sealant.
I used threadlocker on the nuts and bolts when I put it back together. I'll know tomorrow after it cures whether it helped with the sound or not.
