I knew about this; I even remember the F-85 little Buick that had an injection system under the"top hat" air cleaner,and it used a "special formula" that you bought from the dealer. It was poured into a modified windshield washer jar (remember when they were glass?)that had a pump just like the WWjar,and a throttle metering hose/valve assembly.
And WWII airplanes that used that injection to boost their octane deficient fuel enough to fly in thin air.
I have used a simple atomized water detergent spray to decarbonize engines that seem to diesel(run-on) when ign. is shut down.
Boy, sitting around a campfire with you guys would sure be entertaining.
