I figured I would check in and give you guys an update on my now 3+ year old champion.
This last weekend it let me down for the third time, but first some history.
I got this thing for practically nothing by using points earned on a toyota bonus card, the only time Ive serviced it is one oil change last year (because I felt guilty lol)
First breakdown was a snapped pull cord at glamis dunes, champion sent me a replacement :) The reason it snapped was due to a broken choke lever and me pulling on it like a madman trying to get it to fire, champion also sent me a new lever free.
Second breakdown was again a broken pull cord, I dont know if the rope is cheap or it was bottoming out on the pull but I replaced it with a pull sting from a craftsman leaf blower and its been fine since.
Third breakdown was this last weekend, it was 90+ outside and I ran it damn near all weekend running the AC. It died due to running out of gas, after filling her up it would not restart, after pulling on it for a few minutes I started looking it other causes. It turns out the oil level was low and had tripped the switch, a glug of oil and shes purring again :)
I should have known to give up pulling when it dint start on the second pull like it ALWAYS does! You can probably lay complete blame on me for both pull cords as me + booze = you will start dammnit!
The reason for this long winded post is to say how happy I am with this little cheapie genset, its run for now hundreds of hours in horrible sandy nasty hot conditions with damn near zero sceduled maintainance and has sucked through countless gallons of gas.
Without a doubt the most reliable combustion engine I have ever purchased.
I admittedly have not been a good owner, I drag it out and drop it in the sand, fire it up and dont really check on it until I pack it up on sunday. No washes no oil level checks no filter servicng no carb cleaning.
If my toys were this reliable I would be a ton richer :)
