As a Costco member since 1995 and utilizing online purchasing frequently, I don't believe Costco sold out of the Champion. I checked online a day or two before the promotion price was to end, and there were still several hundred available for sale.
Actually, Costco did not have physical possession of the new gensets. The only thing Costco did was process the orders, collect the money and forward the orders to CPE. They were all shipped from CPE's warehouse.
I cannot say that there are none left, but since this was a "promotion" that was subsidized by CPE to allow the introductory price reduction, there was a date for the promotion to end. It was July 1st.
It is now up to Costco to stock and ship future gensets. While there is a manufacturer's suggested list price, it will be up to Costco to decide what they will sell the genny for.
I have no information as to the status of new stock - it may be here, or it may be on a boat from China.:h
So..... we just have to wait and see what the next phase will bring us.
