My Chinese generator that had less the 5 hours run time on it, quit running. It would start and not come up to speed then die. I took the carburetor apart thinking the jets were stopped up. I ended up damaging one of the jets when I was putting it back together. I ended up ordering a new carburetor. Long story short. I ended up carrying it to a small engine shop up the road from me and it took the guy every bit of 10 minutes to fix it. The (steel wool)? that they use in the end of the muffler behind the wire screen for what I think is part of the spark arrester, was stopped up. The repair guy removed the steel wool packing and the generator started and ran perfect. I never would have guessed that. So if your Champion, or other Chinese gen has these symptoms, try this. After I brought it back home, I installed an inline gas filter between the tank and carb. The repair guy also said he would use the highest grade gasoline because it is a lot cleaner than regulator.
Well, I'm looking on the bright side ... at least I don't have to camp out at the junkyard waiting for that gennie to show up!:B

John
