There is no doubt in my mind that the top tier gasolines can clean and keep clean any deposits left by the use of lesser quality gasolines, be it a "small, carburetored, low compression air cooled engines" found in the current crop of Chinese made generators or "today's computer controlled fuel injected automotive engines".

Boone,
What is you position/experience on Chevron Techron Concentrate as a consumer added fuel system cleaner - particularly in small engines and 2-stroke outboard motors?
I have never used this concentrate or any similar product. I have always used gasolines from the major brands (Texaco and now Shell) in my SUVs and truck.
From a convenience of supply standpoint, I use Chevron gasoline with Techron in my Yamaha 4 stroke outboard, Polaris Ranger, and other 2 and 4 stroke small engine applications. In addition, I always add Yamalube Fuel Stabilizer and Conditioner to the fuel to combat any potential damaging effects resulting from the long term storage of E10 fuel.
My father-in-law does use the Techron concentrate on a regular basis (every 4th or 5th fillup) in his vehicles, since he buys his gasoline at a local independent grocery store. This combination seems to work for him.
My opinion on Techron concentrate is that it will clean carbon deposits within your engine as well as any top tier gasoline if used on a regular schedule. Chevron recommends its use in combination with their gasoline. Can't hurt, may help, but may be overkill. For two cycle engines, I would go with a concentrate specifically formulated for that use.
