Well, not to jump in, but the following appear to apply to us:
UL2201 Portable Generators
UL1248 Generators installed in RVs
Both of you men along with Prof, are far above my pay grade and knowledge level in all things 'lectrical. This is my only comment for me the novice. Underwriters Laboratories, can kma and OSHA also, when it comes to the portable gen. First, can't fine listings for deaths caused by the use of portable gens. With or without the 8' copper rod in the proper earth. Now, the UL and my power strips with MOVS. Don't rightly know if they are fast 'nouf to stop any damage to my PC and other equipment with overvoltage jolt. Yes. those with the UL stamp on them.
Toprudder, (aka Capt. Leaf Blower Flyer) ~ At present, I'm sitting here at the keyboard looking at one of the knobby looking things on the cord to all my PC equipment, like this ViewSonic 1080p LED monitor. IIRC, you had somehing to do with the engineering of 'them things'. I accept your further comments on the UL questions at large.
