Bill,
Have you figured out the permeability difference between a tin foil hat and a wooden broom stick?
On a totally different topic, our long time RV product advocate and extremely knowledgeable technical engineer, Paul Cole, has retired from CPE. He no longer answers the tech line phones (meaning he has his life back ;)}
Paul is now a private outside contractor to CPE testing products and perhaps recommending improvements.
Our commentary on what we, as RV owners, wanted to see as the ultimate synchronous open frame generator were brought to fruition by Paul after hundreds of postings on this thread over the past six years.
The first product change was a generator capable of delivering full amperage to a single outlet at 120 volts. The second major change was including a 30 amp TT outlet for direct connection to a RV. Concern over AVR failure and over-voltage damage led to the CPE Volt Guard.
The "Cadillac" of 3,000 watt class synchronous generators directly aimed at the RV market (and based on what we said we wanted on this thread) is the CPE46538 which includes a 30 amp TT outlet, electric start with remote control so you can start and stop the generator from the inside comfort of your RV, and load-shed and start-up delay to protect our RV appliances when using the generator remotely.
IMHO, none of this would have been accomplished if Paul had not been in his position with CPE listening to our comments and concerns and advocating for the product designs targeted specifically to the RV community.
Other manufacturers and importers of Chinese built synchronous generators have yet to introduce a model specific to our RV needs.
We owe a big thanks to Paul. I only hope CPE will continue to listen to our needs as they develop newer products.
While CPE continues to be the frontrunner in RV specific models, it would be nice if other manufacturers woke up and realized that the RV community needs products that are "different" from the generic models currently available.
