Nah, a value based consumer. If I'm going to pay a premium for a particular "benefit", then I want to make sure I maximize the value of that "benefit".

In other words, if reducing carbon emissions is the "benefit", then I want make sure one of the qualities is very low low carbon emissions during it's entire lifecycle (manufacture -> use -> disposal).

Some people focus strictly only on "use" and disregard the mountain of carbon emissions produced by greedy, profit-driven Chinese factories (manufacture)...and what winds up in our landfills, aka Mother Earth(disposal).

I look at the entire cost: monetarily and socially, cradle to grave.

With all your hydro in the PNW maybe you could do with less solar. And certainly if SoCal produces all that extra power there are already transmission lines that could export electricity north instead of the PNW sending power down to CA.

I agree that solar panels on roof tops is a good answer....IF, they are manufactured smartly. Of the top 10 solar panel manufactures 6 are based in China, 2 based in SE Asia (Japan & Korea), 1 based in Canada, and 1 based in USA. Of course here in the PNW, not all roofs receive significant sunlight--compared to So Cali.

Wouldn't it be nice if every consumer product identified that amount of carbon emissions produced during manufacturing. Kinda like my drum beat for "carbon parity" and "mileage breakeven" information for BEVs.

I personally have experienced the fumes and it bothers me enough that I am concerned for my health. No way would I take a leaf blower job.
Likewise I have long since tolerated the noise and I am glad there is a quiet solution.

But keep up on those conspiracy theories. That foil hat should continue to protect you from progress.

No more chainsaws to fuel wood stoves. If I lived there I would probably go to jail after converting a stove to burn anthracite coal.
