50 Amp Shore Cord stolen!

Sadly the 50A cords are a fortune from dealers. My rig is unique in that its a 50A setup, with no 2nd ac or washer/dryer. Because of that I leave the oem cord in my house. I have a marinco 18" 50a twist lock that adapts to a 15a pigtail on it. Use it plugged in at home and when running the Honda. In Canada that 50A twist lock can be $200-300 so im more comfortable with a $40 adapter and a normal extension cord that runs under my garage door thus cant be stolen. Sad thats the world we live in...they will likely get $20 for the copper.

Copper thieves will chop the cord and pull the stub out of your security loop. A stainless steel wire rope bonded to the cord would work.

I cannot tell you how happy I am with my 12-volt 50-mile fence charger. Thieves haven't got a clue as to what jolted them.

If all else fails, they can take a separate battery charger so they can recharge the batteries that way.
Also its a hassle but stop by a lowes and get the plug to fit their unit and make a cord up from scratch if need be.

You might also consider buying adapters so you can use cheaper 20 and/or 30 amp cords. In this weather my 5er rarely needs 50amp service so why leave an expensive (and heavy) cord out there.

No, they aren't. In the U.S., the current scrap value of clean copper is about $2.50 per lb. (U.S. dollars) That's enough to motivate a few desperate "treasure hunters" to help themselves to easy pickins. Sorry for your loss. Next time, try to figure out a way to hide it or bolt it down so it's not so easy.

I only need 30A for the TC.
