5th wheel tsil light numbers

My rear running light on the left side quit working. Brake and hazard light works fine.

Anyhow the number on the bulb is 2057. I have a handful of the ole 1157's from the "good ole days".

Anyone know the difference?

Normally, brighter means hotter, which can melt fixtures or fixture covers. However, the difference in these bulbs is the low wattage filament, so you are good there.

But, you can not always safely substitute different bulbs.
  • The 2057 has 2 elements 26 watts and 6.8 watts The 1157 also has 2 elements 26 watts and 8.8 watts. Since one element in the 1157 has more wattage that element is brighter. Otherwise the same.
  • The 1157 running light filament appears to be 3 candle power over the 2057 2 candle power.

  • I just did an internet search on the two bulbs 2057 vs 1157 and they should both fit. The difference is wattage so one will be brighter than the other. JMO
