Our trailer has very thin water lines going to the faucets, similar to what you get for refrigerator ice makers and so on. But if you trace them back (up to 6'), you find standard 1/2" PEX.
Our SHURFlo Revolution 4008 By-Pass pump is not very noisy when using hot water but can be when using cold. Figure the hot water tank is why. Pulsing is not a major issue in either case just the loud noise when using cold. If I can find the room, one of these days I'll add a 1-2g tank to the cold water line.
Thats just the 3/8 supply lines to the faucet, no different than a house. House has shutoff valves that reduce from 1/2 to 3/8 and an RV usually doesn't have shutoffs to individual fixtures. As far as asking the guy at Lowes, 95% of the people working at Lowes are minimum wagers that just need a job. Not many have much if any building, plumbing, electrical experience. Most start on a register and then move to a different section. I actually had one that works in electric tell me that the trim on a can light was held in by the light bulb.
