Adding outlet for propane campfire

My camper has an auxiliary low pressure hose connection for a grill. I use a "campfire in a can". I removed the regulator from it, and plumbed it with quick connect fittings so I can easily re-install it to use it from a stand alone LP tank. Works very well. In addition to the above advantages, I like that it will cool off in a matter of minutes so it is not as much of a fire hazard. Also, I can pack it up much quicker after using it than a wood fire ring. It is lightweight and fits in a relatively small space. It works great for us.

A -well built- LPG campfire burner will emit a tall and narrow wispy yellow flame. For desired flickering, place a not-quite-dry branch against the burner. When we pack up, the fire pit contains 100% white or gray ash, zero black chunks. I don't mind the wood burning. I do mind the destruction of trees and felled trunks for no reason. Like Jack Nicholson demented chipmunks were turned loose with axes and bow saws. That's when I started packing way the hell and gone back into the Sierras. Twenty miles minimum. This eliminated 99% of the people and 99.9999% of the hatchets and bow saws.

If you drawing camp fire smoke deep into your lungs as you do with cigarette smoke, maybe a concern. I won't worry about and enjoy the smell of burning wood. I'll be more worried about the cigar I am smoking around the campfire, or the whisky I am drinking...

No, double regulators won't work. I have a grill and an oven that I connect into the low pressure side of the propane lines. Propane isn't something to take chances with, so I spent the extra money and got the fittings specifically made for propane, with the on/off valve for protection. I removed the regulators from the grill and oven, and replaced them with direct fittings. Works great. We rarely cook in the trailer, and this makes it a lot easier.

Richy2, so glad you didn't want to ask aboot a generator or running your diesel at 6am!!! Bet you're really informed now about putting in a connection for your LP firepit!

Here is what I did:



Find an elbow or tee that feeds one of your LP appliances and tee or elbow into that for regulated pressure. You won't use your firepit regulator. I used the regulator on another disconnect piece so I can still hook up a bottle.

Oh, for those who are going to jump on me for not having a valve, the disconnects I use are LP approved and have built shut off in each piece. 8 yrs, 3 trailers, NO problems!!!

Sounds like a plan. If it is regulated, propane, I don't think it will work double regulated. unless you tap at the tank on the high pressure side. Don't know of your connections or maybe thought of it. If so disregard.
