My AGM Education continues to grow.
The Bestconverter site had Lifeline Marine GPL-31T for $287.50 + $25.20 Shipping. Assuming no core charge? , Cost = $312+tax. Do I need to keep shoping?
Compare to the Sam's Club Duracell Gr 31 at $180 + tax. I think SC charges $15 core, but in comparing apples to apples
At 50% DOD
Lifeline-----$312/1000 cycles =$.31 per cycle
SC Duracell $180/370 cycles =$.49 per cycle
Sort of a 'no-brainer', isn't it.
The SC Duracell Gr 31 aka Deka by East Penn still has its place. As a 'cranking' battery, it has considerable more amps, 1000 vs 750 at 32 Deg F and 800 vs 600 at 0 Deg F.
Since Bestconverter carries the Marine GPL-31T in stock and advertises thier batteries are 'fresh', I'm going to have to keep them in mind. I'm a little fuzzy about the Marine Terminals, M8 and M10. To be honest, they look easy to strip out, I really like the dual post design that Deka has.
While I'm firming up my trolling motor (24 or 36 volts), I think that I'm going to pickup a Sam's Club Gr 31 for a 12v Jumper Pack, use as a 12 volt source around the house and as a spare, emergency cranking (jump-start) battery for the truck and boat (Yamaha mandates that only FLA be used as cranking battery due to the high voltage from their alternator.)
I declare this exercise a success, for me and my needs, I see where the Lifeline excels as a 'pure' deep-cycle with a very economical cost per cycle. And Sam's Club re-badged Deka fills a need if one needs to crank a engine and moderate deep-cycle uses.
I now have 2 manuals to study and will want to discuss charging procedures in a separate thread.
Thannks to each and all who posted, I truly appreciate the time and effort.
