antenna will not pickup ditigal channels

Thanks again for everyone's input. The last reply from wa8yxm hit the nail on the head. First thing I did was to pull the power booster from the wall disconnect the roof coax cable and run a coax cable out the window to the antenna and it worked. I reconnect the coax at the booster and disconnected the cable from the antenna to the first connection into the roof. I ran a new coax cable from there to the antenna and it worked. Problem solved.

However, the antenna needs to be up and pointed in the right direction to do a proper scan.

If the OP has a smartphone with internet access he can go to TVfool.com and use their free program based on his current location. It will located all the OTA channels in the area, what direction they are in, how far away they are, probable signal strength etc.
It would be faster to just re-scan the OTA channels with the TV.

I had to replace the coax on the roof from the antenna down to a connector box in the roof. It quit working and received no signal what so ever. The coax that was replaced was weathered to the point it no longer worked. Did same thing 2 years later. Turned out the connections on the coax that was replaced 2 years before was pulled apart.

It was mentioned before but as you traveled from state to state did you go into the TV menu and re-scan for channels or are you just trying the same channels you received in the last state? Each state may broadcast over the air channels on a different frequency. If you did re-scan then I'd suspect a coax or antenna problem also previously mentioned.

I think George3037 is on the right track. An example of need to scan is my situation, I live on a hilltop in N/E Los Angeles and receive a Santa Barbara station and about 80 other station, some music some, tune in but so weak not picture. I store the rig in Simi Valley about 45 miles away, it is also closer to Santa Barbara but I get nothing in Simi unless I re-scan and due to geographic location, I cannot get the Santa Barbara station at all.

Our rig spent the first 14 years of its life at or near the beach. There is a lot of sunburn to certain parts, FG roof, slide toppers and awning for example, there is some salt damage to exposed plated metal items. I dug around and found the threaded F-connector barrel splice in the cable coming from the antenna to the BOMB, I replaced both f-type connectors and the barrel connector and the f-type connector at the antenna with the best my supplier had. There was a marked improvement in the reception. I haven't replace the coax from the antenna to the barrel connector but probably should. I had a spare batwing head assembly and installed that too, opened the old one and found the PC board was very corroded where the copper traces were exposed.

Winegard does have a good TS section in the instructions for the antenna.

First go to the APP store and type in WINEGARD.. Open the Sat/Antenna finder app and select ANTENNA. give it the needed permissions and soon you will be looking at a map with concentric circles.. If there are not stations whowing you will NOT get TV. if the only stations are in the outer ring, LIkely will not but.. Might Make antenna face Stations. NOTE Winegard Senare IV is best. Jack is **** in my not very humble opinion.

Busted coax is my first guess.

TO test TURN OFF the Green light. (if a well plate select cable (turn off light) if box of many buttons like I have turn off POWER

Go top and disconnect antenna

Hook test light to coax Make sure the wire does NOT short to the nut

Have partner turn power back on and off. Light should go on and off. IF NOT problem found Narrowed down

MOST likely location of problem.... Connecter at or in the roof. I had to replace the roof connector assembly including both coax ends and the barrel connector that joined them) Yes there is a connection hidden there.

To answer your question, disconnect the cable from the antenna, there should be 12 volts between the center conductor and the outside of the connector with the switch and light on. Be careful that you don't short the center to outside.

After verifying that you have power to the antenna amplifier, you can continue to other areas if necessary.
