April Fools Day Calfornia Battery Prices

Excerpted from the San Francisco Chronicle

• Fees totaling $2 will be tacked on to the sale of lead-acid batteries, which are mostly used in vehicles. The projected $26 million generated annually by the fees will be used to clean-up sites throughout California contaminated by lead-acid battery recycling facilities.

Well let's see...

That's THIRTEEN MILLION LEAD ACID BATTERIES. Failed bar registrants and CPA or MBA do not mix professions well.

I did note they added a two dollar tax onto the price of cigarettes and are going to tax hookahs.

Cleaning up lead contamination makes sense. But someone needs to keep an eye on this to see (less than 15 million dollars) actually does not go into the "General Fun" Oops I mean, General Fund.
