Atwood oven pilot light won't stay lit

Hi,

the pilot light in my Atwood Wedgewood Vision 1734 BB oven won't stay lit.

It lights Ok and will stay lit for hours and hours... BUT, when I use the oven, it will go out after the oven has heated up to it's set temperature.

In other words, after the gas cuts off to the main burner, the pilot goes out as well. The oven should cycle on and off to maintain baking temp. I get only 1 cycle, and then I have to re-light the pilot.

Any ideas???

Thanks

  • There are 2 things that cause this.
    1. OLDER Range/ovens, the Oven Tstat is replaced to fix
    2. Newer, you replace the Pilot/orifice tube assbly as Atwood had some that were faulty.
  • Did you ever find a solution for this/ I am having the exact same problem?
  • I would say start with cleaning the thermocouple and being sure it is centered in the flame. They generate only the tiniest amount of electricity, and yours may be just borderline in operating territory.

If you have cleaned it to no avail, read up on seeing what the flame is supposed to look like, then try adjusting the flow to the pilot light. If I remember right, you pull the knob, and there is a slotted screw underneath it. Again, putting in your stove model will help.

    After that, change the thermocouple.
